Pelvic floor muscle assessment and training

Assessing and treating issues related to pelvic floor dysfunction including:

  • Urinary and/or faecal incontinence

  • Birth trauma

  • Pelvic pain conditions

  • Post prostatectomy urinary incontinence

  • Sexual Dysfunctions

Accurate assessment of the pelvic floor muscles for females requires an internal examination to be performed (vaginal and/or rectal).

Male pelvic floor muscle assessment for urinary incontinence is performed using Real time Ultrasound however bowel related issues may require a rectal examination.

A private and relaxed environment is assured, and a chaperone is welcome (but not necessary) for this portion of the evaluation. If a chaperone is required, it is asked that the patient provide this person or if unable please inform ahead of the appointment so alternative arrangements can be made. Details of the assessment are explained in detail prior to commencement. Informed consent prior to commencement and throughout the examination will be requested and consent can be withdrawn at any time.
